His verse, short stories, and novels, many defined by rhythmic lyricism, colloquial language, meditative naturalism, and philosophical contemplation, received worldwide acclaim. His two songs? are now the national anthems of Bangladesh and India: the Amar Shonar Bangla and the Jana Gana Mana.
